Don has directed guitar ensembles, concert bands, jazz bands, vocal jazz ensembles, choirs, and run keyboard classes. During his time in York Region, Don directed ensembles who competed in local and international festivals, bringing back awards of excellence.
Don attended The University of Western Ontario where he graduated with an Honour’s Bachelor of Musical Arts degree.
Once Don made the transition to the Greater Toronto Area, he began to play gigs across the GTA, including The Black Swan and the Ashbridges Bay Blues Festival.

Early on, Don performed in various recitals and festivals while also completing Western Conservatory Exams.

In high school, Don performed in Concert Bands, Orchestras, Jazz Bands, small vocal and instrumental ensembles. Following high school, Don attended The University of Western Ontario, earning an Honour's Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree, followed by a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Windsor.

Don educated young musicians at the high school level, in York Region (North of Toronto) for just under 3 decades, where he directed & taught guitar ensembles, concert bands, jazz bands, vocal jazz ensembles, choirs, and keyboard classes. During this time, Don directed ensembles which competed in local and international music festivals, earning awards of excellence. Don has played professionally over the years in a variety of ensembles, while also embracing opportunities to play in lounges.​

Don is now retired residing in Fredericton, where he continues to educate students, songwrite, and most recently has formed a band known as the "Boogie Katz".
